Poetry round-up – May 2016

The conceited type

The give beneath
each pliant key
which ends
and sunders
suddenly
all sense of grace,
or wit, or will:
the cursor moves
but words are still.

Grief can

miscast these
laughter lines
as sodden trenches;
But your
panache –
even past –
presents a
pitch-perfect
comedy
